There are only two hard things in Computer Science: cache invalidation and naming things.
Indeed, when renaming showergel to radioz I forgot to check the name was not used already. But a name inspired from "Radio A" (the french category for community radios) of course had already been used to call a radio, a whole federation, and even a Python package. Sorry, I'm better at programming than SEO.
Radiotomate, the next radio automation system
So we're rolling another name (from another pun): Radiotomate. In french it is the contraction of "radio" and "automate", which is appropriate for a broadcast automation system. That name doesn't seem to conflict with existing projects, and can also be a tribute to Radio tomate, one of the first FM radios in France, who promoted DIY and autonomist values that are close to ours ♥️
Also it's easier to turn that name into a fancy logo:
Radiotomate 1.0 is coming soon
After two years of (very intermittent) work, this renaming also mark a milestone as the project's skeleton is ready and a first release is near. It's time to work on automated installation and documentation.
Project resources and repository have been renamed and are redirected. The "radioz" mailing-list will close in less than a year, subscribe to the new one. Radiotomate 1.0 will be hopefully released in 2025 🤞
Note for Liquidsoap programmers
I forgot to mention on this blog that the ongoing work on radioz...tomate led me to share to share some Liquidsoap-fu during the latest Liquidshop.

Many thanks to Romain and Sam for putting up the online conference again, and for keeping up Liquidsoap of course!
